If logistics are such a huge part of Amazon’s business, why do they suck ass at it?

Main Post:

I picked up a three hour block a few days ago and saw that the first stop was 50 minutes away. Not unusual, and it was a straight shot down the interstate most of the way. Plus the entire route was only seven stops so whatever. The thing that gets me though is that I know for a fact that’s are at least two SSD locations that were closer to the delivery area in this instance. One that’s about 25 minutes away and a second one that is about ten minutes from the delivery area. Is it really just because we’re contractors and Amazon doesn’t pay our fuel or maintenance so they really don’t give a shit if the Flex routes make any sense?

Top Comment: They suck at it ?!? .That's why they scaled to be bigger than UPS and Fed Ex in less than five years when the others took over five decades. Getting 5 BILLION packages delivered through an integrated inventory management system and delivery network, most within 48 hours - yeah, that sucks! That's right, this is Reddit, the hyperbole comes standard.
